Gulfport police arrested 49-year-old Minh Hoang Truong of Pass Christian on June 11 and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death after a hit-and-run in the 8300 block of Georgia Avenue, the Gulfport Police Department said.
Officers responded at approximately 4:47 a.m. and located a victim suffering serious injuries, the department said. The victim was transported to a local hospital and later succumbed to those injuries.
Detectives identified Truong as the driver of the vehicle that struck the victim and determined he fled the scene without stopping to render aid or provide assistance, the department said. Truong was arrested, processed and transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center, where he is being held in lieu of a $500,000 bond set by Judge Fountain.
The Gulfport Police Department urged anyone with information to call 228-868-5959. Tips also can be submitted to Mississippi Coast Crime Stoppers at 877-787-5898. Gulfport is on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, and the department said it continues to investigate the incident.
