Members of the Vicksburg Police Department attended a Fallen Officers Memorial Ceremony this week at the new Department of Public Safety building in Pearl, Mississippi, the department said.
Law enforcement officers from across the state gathered to honor and remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, the Vicksburg Police Department said. Following the memorial, officers attended the Top Cop Luncheon at the Mississippi Trade Mart Center in Jackson to recognize outstanding law enforcement professionals from agencies throughout the state, the department said.
The department announced that Officer Edward Knight was recognized as the Vicksburg Police Department’s Top Cop recipient for his dedication, professionalism and commitment to serving the citizens of Vicksburg. The department asked the public to join in congratulating Officer Knight while also remembering the fallen officers who will not be forgotten.
