Vehicle pursuit ends in drug arrest in Lowndes County
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a man and seized suspected drugs and guns after a vehicle pursuit on April 25, 2026, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office said the incident began about 9:43 a.m. during a traffic stop of a 2026 Kia Elantra. Deputies said the pursuit started on Cole Road and continued westbound on U.S. Highway 82 after the driver struck a deputy’s vehicle.
Officials said the driver at times traveled in the eastbound lane, creating a dangerous situation for other motorists. The pursuit ended in the 2200 block of 23rd Street North. When the vehicle stopped, the driver fled on foot but was quickly apprehended with the assistance of a K-9 unit.
A search of the vehicle turned up about 20 packages of suspected marijuana, each of about one pound, and a .380-caliber handgun recovered after the arrest, the sheriff’s office said. The suspect was identified as 37-year-old Quinton Brewer and was charged with felony fleeing and trafficking of marijuana.
Deputies, working with agents from the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics, executed two search warrants at Brewer’s residence and another location tied to him and recovered additional marijuana, methamphetamine, two firearms and cash, the sheriff’s office said. The sheriff’s office thanked deputies and partner agencies for their quick action. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
