Agency credits Flock Safety alert with stolen-vehicle arrest, major drug and weapons seizure

Within two weeks of joining Flock Safety, a local law enforcement agency said it used an automated alert to help locate a stolen vehicle that entered Yazoo County.

The agency said in a Facebook post that deputies located the vehicle within Yazoo City limits and made contact with an individual who said he had purchased the vehicle. During the subsequent investigation, deputies recovered multiple controlled substances and other items.

Deputies seized 7.9 grams of suspected fentanyl powder; 11.3 grams of methamphetamine; 60 fentanyl dosage-unit pills; 58 dexmethylphenidate hydrochloride pills (a Schedule II controlled substance); 59 Vyvanse pills (Schedule II); 16 ounces of promethazine; and 200 grams of marijuana, the post said.

The agency also recovered eight firearms, two of which were confirmed stolen, and more than 200 rounds of ammunition. Three males were arrested, and the investigation remains ongoing, the agency said.

Flock Safety provides automated license-plate readers and camera systems to law enforcement and neighborhoods; agencies say the technology can speed alerts about stolen vehicles and suspects. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
