Advocates urge wearing denim to mark Denim Day April 29

Organizers urged people to wear denim on Wednesday, April 29, to mark Denim Day and show solidarity with survivors of sexual violence, according to a Facebook post that asked supporters to post photos and tag #gccfn.

The post said the visible act of wearing denim is a reminder that “there is never an excuse for assault—and that we believe and support survivors.” It encouraged people to stand together to challenge harmful myths about consent.

Denim Day began as a form of protest against victim-blaming and has grown into an annual awareness effort in many communities and on college campuses. Advocates say the campaign helps prompt conversations about consent, accountability and resources for survivors.

The Facebook post described the day as part of broader work to create a culture of respect, accountability and healing. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
