Two die in apparent domestic shooting in Verona

VERONA — Two people were found dead early Wednesday after a shooting tied to a domestic disturbance on Clement Street, Verona police said.

Officers responded about 1 a.m. to reports of gunfire and found two people suffering from gunshot wounds, police said. WTVA reported that authorities identified a 32-year-old woman who had been shot twice and a 28-year-old man who suffered two self-inflicted gunshot wounds.

Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by the Lee County coroner, according to police and WTVA. Police said the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.

The case remains under active investigation. Police asked anyone with information to contact the Verona Police Department. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
