Texas Gas warns of visible flames during testing on Highway 61 South

Texas Gas said in a Facebook post that it will conduct work on Highway 61 South today that may produce visible flames reaching approximately 60 to 80 feet in the air.

The company said the flames are an expected part of a specialized testing process and that there is no need for alarm. Texas Gas said the work is anticipated to be completed by the end of the day.

Texas Gas is a regional natural gas company that operates pipeline infrastructure and conducts routine testing and maintenance to ensure safe service. Utility and pipeline operators sometimes use controlled flaring or other specialized tests as part of maintenance to manage pressure or safely dispose of gas during inspections.
