Starkville man arrested after covert recording device found
Starkville police arrested Scott Gronewold, 50, late Monday after officers discovered a covert recording device inside a residence on Woodlawn Road, the Starkville Police Department said.
Officers responded Sunday, May 17, to a report that a recording device had allegedly been secretly placed inside the home, police said. The suspect was not at the residence when officers initially arrived, and following an investigation officers arrested Gronewold at about 11:49 p.m. Monday at his Woodlawn Road residence, police said.
Gronewold was charged with photographing or filming another person without permission where there is an expectation of privacy under Mississippi law, the department said. The department’s tactical team assisted with the arrest after a threat assessment was conducted beforehand. Authorities said Gronewold was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital – Oktibbeha for medical and mental health treatment.
