South JXN parade begins Saturday at Cordoza Middle

JACKSON — The Association of South Jackson Neighborhoods will host its annual South JXN Parade on Saturday, April 18, with activities beginning at 9 a.m. along McDowell Road, organizers said. The procession will start in the Little Caesars parking lot and travel to Cordoza Middle School, where post-parade festivities will take place.

Organizers said Cordoza Middle School, 3180 McDowell Road Extension, will serve as the central hub for activities after the parade. Vendors may begin setup at 7 a.m., and event planners said a fun zone and other family-oriented attractions will be available for attendees.

City Council members Lashia Brown-Thomas and Kevin Parkinson are expected to attend and will be available for comment during the event, organizers said. For more information, organizers provided contact numbers for Ernest Ward at 601-201-3020 and Johnny Byrd at 601-720-9965.

Organizers said the annual parade is intended to bring residents together and celebrate the South Jackson community. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
