Oxford Middle School evacuates students after police respond to threat
OXFORD, — At 1:28 p.m. the Oxford School District said all Oxford Middle School students and staff were safely evacuated from the school and taken to a reunification site after the district reported a potential threat and police response.
The district said parents and guardians picking up students at the reunification site must have photo identification ready. The district said Bramlett Boulevard was open to through traffic but that access to the middle school remained secured until further notice.
The district said the Oxford Police Department was responding to a potential threat at the middle school. Earlier updates from the district said Bramlett Boulevard at Jackson and Jefferson streets was closed and that all other district schools were placed on a soft lockdown as a precaution. The district said dismissal times at those schools would not change and that only the middle school dismissal was affected.
The district said parents already should have received reunification site information through its internal messaging system. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
