Motorcyclist dies in crash on I-59 near Hattiesburg

A motorcyclist died Wednesday after a crash on Interstate 59 near Hattiesburg, Mississippi, officials said.

First responders were dispatched to mile marker 66 on I-59 at approximately 3:30 p.m. on April 15, and the rider was transported to a local hospital for treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries, officials said.

The crash remains under investigation, and authorities have not released additional details about the circumstances leading to the collision.

Interstate 59 is a major north-south route that passes through Hattiesburg and carries significant local and regional traffic. Motorcycle crashes often result in severe injuries because riders do not have the protective barriers of passenger vehicles, and such incidents can prompt extended traffic delays and emergency responses.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
