Sheriff Jones partners with agencies to secure America’s 250 celebration

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office say they partnered with the Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, the Mississippi Highway Patrol and the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office to provide security and public safety during the America’s 250 celebration July 3-4 at Percy Quin State Park, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

The two-day event drew families, visitors and vacationers from across Pike County, surrounding communities and neighboring Louisiana, the post said. “Our hats are off to the dedicated park personnel for an outstanding job of organizing and hosting an amazing two-day holiday celebration for everyone to enjoy,” Jones said.

Jones expressed appreciation for the participating public safety agencies and singled out the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office for providing four mounted patrol units and four foot patrol deputies, saying their presence enhanced security and the overall experience for attendees. “Events of this magnitude are only successful because of strong partnerships and a shared commitment to serving the public,” he said.

The sheriff’s office encouraged citizens to continue supporting community events that bring families together and said it looks forward to partnering again for next year’s celebration. America’s 250 marks the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence. The information was provided by the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Public Relations Department.
