Scott County Sheriff’s Office thanks agencies after suspects arrested

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office thanked law enforcement agencies Friday after both suspects accused in a senseless act were placed in custody around 1 a.m., the office said in a statement.

“We would like to thank all of the dedicated law enforcement officers and agencies whose hard work, professionalism, and teamwork led to the successful apprehension of both suspects,” the statement said. It said the suspects will now have the chance to face the judicial process.

The office offered support for a Covington County deputy who is recovering, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers remain with the Covington County deputy, his family, fellow deputies, and the entire law enforcement community.” The statement asked the public to continue keeping the deputy in their prayers as recovery and healing continue.

The sheriff’s office also extended gratitude to doctors, nurses, paramedics and medical personnel who cared for the deputy and said it stands united with other law enforcement agencies. The statement was signed by Sheriff Mike Lee, Chief Deputy Brad Ellis and Public Information Officer Joshua Thames. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
