Scott County SRT says it answers call to protect county

Scott County SRT, formerly known as the SWAT Team, said on its Facebook page that it responds “without hesitation” when calls come in and stakes are highest, adding that the unit removes people who bring drugs and senseless crimes to the county.

In the post, the team described itself as “The Beekeepers” and said it does not seek recognition. “We don’t make the step forward looking for recognition; we make the step because the citizens who need us the most are counting on us,” the post said.

The message said every operation and callout is dangerous and called the unit “the guardians that stand as the last line between danger and safety for Scott County.” The post included names and titles: Mike Lee, Sheriff; Brad Ellis, Chief Deputy; and Joshua Thames, public information officer.

Special response teams such as SRTs or SWAT units typically handle high-risk incidents, including armed standoffs, raids and other situations requiring tactical response. The post did not provide details about any specific recent operation. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
