Rankin County deputy critically injured in Highway 80 crash
At approximately 3:42 p.m., a deputy with the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department was critically injured in a motor vehicle crash while responding eastbound on Highway 80 near Shiloh Parkway to an emergency call, the department said in a Facebook post.
The Brandon Police Department and Pafford Ambulance Service responded to the scene along with other Rankin County deputies, the post said. Because the crash occurred within the City of Brandon, Brandon police are investigating.
After being extricated from the vehicle at the scene, the deputy was transported to the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson in critical but stable condition, the department said. Occupants of the other vehicle were assessed by medical personnel and were not transported.
Sheriff Bailey and employees of the Rankin County Sheriff’s Department asked for prayers for the injured deputy and the deputy’s family, the post said. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Department is the primary law enforcement agency for Rankin County, Mississippi.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
