Rankin County deputies join Mustard Seed lemonade fundraiser in Flowood
The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that several deputies and investigators spent time this morning enjoying fresh lemonade and visiting with “Seedsters” at The Mustard Seed lemonade fundraiser in Flowood.
The post described The Mustard Seed as an organization that seeks to meet the spiritual, physical, emotional and intellectual needs of adults with developmental disabilities by providing a loving and protected Christian community and meaningful activities that help participants fulfill their potential.
While attending the event, the sheriff’s office said it added a new member to its ranks who assisted in apprehending “Lurk the Leak” for the havoc he was causing to homes. The post did not provide further details about the mascot or the circumstances surrounding the apprehension.
The appearance underscores routine community engagement between law enforcement and local nonprofit groups that provide services to adults with developmental disabilities. The Rankin County Sheriff’s Office shared photos of deputies interacting with participants at the fundraiser.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
