Lee County deputies join memorial race in Amory
Several deputies from the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, accompanied by family members, took part in the Northeast Mississippi Line of Duty Memorial Race in Amory this morning, Sheriff Jim H. Johnson said in a post on the office’s Facebook page.
Johnson said the event provided a meaningful opportunity to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty. He wrote that the office was proud to stand alongside other agencies, families and community members in remembering those heroes and supporting the loved ones they left behind.
The Lee County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Lee County in northeastern Mississippi, responsible for patrol, investigations and public safety in the county. Participation in regional memorial events is a common way for law enforcement agencies to show solidarity and support for colleagues and families affected by line-of-duty deaths.
Memorial runs and similar gatherings also serve to strengthen ties between police agencies and the communities they serve by raising public awareness about the risks officers face and the importance of supporting survivors. The sheriff’s post included the message: “Run to Honor. Run to Remember.”
We will provide more information as it becomes available.
