Pike County sheriff partners with church, homeland security on safety training
The Pike County Sheriff’s Office recently partnered with Felder’s Church and the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security to provide safety and security planning training for churches and community members throughout Pike County, the office said.
The sheriff’s office singled out Jim Brinson, director and adviser for the Mississippi Office of Homeland Security, for conducting the session, saying he focused on helping faith-based organizations strengthen their preparedness and security measures.
Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones said the training fulfills a promise to residents to do everything in his power to keep them safe. “When I took this office, I made a promise to the citizens of Pike County that I would do everything in my power to keep them safe. This training is a part of that promise,” Jones said.
The statement thanked Pastor Abram Atchison, the congregation at Felder’s Church and Mrs. Tara Dupree for their support and commitment to Pike County. The sheriff’s office said it remains committed to working with community partners to ensure that churches and places of worship have the resources, knowledge and support needed to maintain safe and secure environments for all.
