Pike County deputies pursue suspect after patrol car struck

On Aug. 3, 2026, deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office attempted to arrest a suspect on an alleged sale of a controlled substance, triggering a vehicle pursuit from the Pleasant Grove community into the City of McComb, the office said.

While traveling on White Boulevard, the suspect intentionally struck a Pike County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle, then abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot south of the scene, the department said. Deputies established a perimeter around a nearby residence as the search continued.

K-9 units and the Pike County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team are assisting in the operation, and investigators are in the process of obtaining a search warrant for the residence, the department said.

Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones said, “We have reason to believe the suspect is inside the residence. At this time, we do not believe there is any danger to the public. We appreciate everyone’s patience and cooperation as our deputies work to bring this situation to a safe conclusion.”

Anyone with information about the investigation is asked to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office, the Public Relations Department said. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
