Pike County deputies arrest suspect after gas station armed robbery
PIKE COUNTY, Ala. — Deputies with the Pike County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man April 26 after an armed robbery at a gas station at the corner of Magnolia Progress Road and Highway 48, the office said.
The office said deputies responded at approximately 7:00 p.m. after a Black male entered the business, demanded money and other items, and fled. Patrol deputies and investigators reviewed surveillance footage and gathered information about a vehicle involved in the incident.
Deputies in the Progress community located the vehicle, which the office said appeared to be circling and possibly casing a nearby Dollar General store for unknown reasons. Sheriff Bryant “Wally” Jones personally conducted a traffic stop; the driver, identified as the robbery suspect, and a female occupant were taken into custody without incident.
A search warrant was executed at a residence believed to be connected to the investigation and evidence is being processed, the office said. “We are committed to protecting our community and holding those who commit these crimes accountable,” Sheriff Jones said. The office reminded the public that all subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Office. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
