Pedestrian dies after being struck on Highway 11 in Pearl River County

A pedestrian died after being struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning on Highway 11 in Pearl River County, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 9 a.m. April 8, 2026, when a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 36-year-old Kevin Briggs of Poplarville struck 45-year-old Miranda Chuter of McNeill, who was walking on the highway.

Chuter was taken to a local hospital with injuries and later pronounced dead, the Highway Patrol said. Briggs was not injured, troopers said.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. Highway 11 is a state route that runs through Pearl River County and is used by local and through traffic. Officials did not immediately release additional details about the circumstances that led to the collision.
