Picayune detectives seize fentanyl, man booked on distribution charges
PICAYUNE, Miss. — Detectives with the Picayune Police Department Special Operations Division executed a search warrant June 2, 2026, at 911 Betsy Drive and found a distribution amount of fentanyl, paraphernalia associated with distribution of illegal narcotics and marijuana, the department said.
Ricardo Mitchell Mcdonald turned himself in to the Lenoir Rowell Criminal Justice Center the same day and was booked and incarcerated on two counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, police said.
The Picayune Police Department credited assistance from the Pearl River County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Homeland Security Investigations in the operation, according to a Facebook post by the department.
Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that authorities say has contributed to a rise in overdose deaths nationwide because of its potency. Local officials did not disclose the exact quantity seized or additional charges, and the investigation remains active. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
