Picayune detectives charge driver after meth found, child endangered
Detectives with the Picayune Police Department Special Operations Division conducted a traffic stop May 27 and charged the driver after finding a felony amount of methamphetamine, the department said.
The driver, identified by police as Sunni Krista Mitchell, attempted to destroy the evidence inside the vehicle while a small child remained inside, according to a Facebook post from the Picayune Police Department. Mitchell was charged with felony possession of a controlled substance, felony tampering with evidence, felony child endangerment and traffic violations, the post said.
The Picayune Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Picayune, Mississippi. Its Special Operations Division handles targeted enforcement and investigations, including narcotics-related stops and operations, the department says on its website and public materials.
