Oxford police thank first responders, linemen after Winter Storm Fern
The Oxford Police Department said it and its community saw neighbors helping neighbors during Winter Storm Fern and expressed gratitude to fellow first responders and utility crews for their work, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.
The post said people in uniform, workers in hard hats and others pitched in across Oxford and Lafayette County. It noted the contributions of emergency management professionals, electrical linemen and power company employees who worked through the storm to maintain public safety and restore services.
The Oxford Police Department is the primary law enforcement agency for the city of Oxford in northern Mississippi. The Oxford-Lafayette County Chamber of Commerce honored the department and its partners, the post said; local chambers commonly recognize organizations and individuals who provide critical services during emergencies.
The department’s message highlights community collaboration during severe weather and the essential roles of first responders and utility workers. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
