Community group seeks volunteers to help those affected by Winter Storm Fern

Local organizers are calling for volunteers to assist residents affected by Winter Storm Fern, saying they have moved a volunteer calendar to the front spot at OXMS.NET to make sign-ups easier.

Stronger Together Oxford organizers said in a Facebook post that they appreciate the support being given to crews and neighbors and urged anyone who wants to help to consult the calendar. The post included a message of thanks and the line, “We truly are stronger together.”

Community volunteer calendars are commonly used after severe weather to coordinate tasks such as welfare checks, debris removal, delivery of supplies and staffing warming centers, organizers said. Local groups and municipalities often rely on volunteers to reach vulnerable residents quickly when storms disrupt power, roads and services.

The move to place the Stronger Together Oxford calendar prominently on OXMS.NET is intended to make it easier for volunteers to find opportunities and for coordinators to manage requests. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
