MEMA launches loan program for Winter Storm Fern recovery
PEARL, Miss. — The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) on April 28 announced the launch of the Local Government Disaster Recovery Emergency Loan Program to assist eligible local governments impacted by Winter Storm Fern, the agency said in a Facebook post.
The program will be administered by MEMA, which said it has posted information and a link to learn more about the effort. The agency did not provide additional details in the post about loan amounts, eligibility criteria or application deadlines.
Emergency loan programs like this are generally designed to help local governments cover immediate recovery costs and bridge short-term funding gaps after severe weather. Local officials often face urgent expenses related to debris removal, emergency repairs and temporary services following storms.
MEMA coordinates emergency preparedness, response and recovery efforts across the state and works with local and federal partners after disasters. The agency said more information is available through its online notice. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
