Oxford Police seek public information officer interns

Oxford Police Department is seeking public information officer interns for the upcoming term, the department said in a Facebook post.

The posting invites Journalism and integrated marketing communications, or IMC, majors at the University of Mississippi, commonly known as Ole Miss, to apply for hands-on experience in media relations, content creation and public safety communications.

Public information officers typically help law enforcement agencies communicate with the public and media, maintain social media and prepare informational materials. For students studying journalism or IMC, internships with a municipal police department can provide practical skills and resume-building experience that complement classroom learning.

Applicants should email PIO Breck Jones at bjones@oxfordpolice.net with a resume; the department said applicants will then receive an internship application. The Facebook post did not include additional details about deadlines, hours or compensation.

We will provide more information as it becomes available.
