Oxford Police hire communications officers to answer emergency calls

Oxford Police Department is hiring communications officers, the department said in a Facebook post. The department said the role involves answering calls that keep officers informed, connect people in need to help and contribute to community safety.

Communications officers, also known as dispatchers or 911 call takers, operate in high-pressure environments and handle emergency and nonemergency calls. They log incidents, coordinate response units and provide vital information that helps officers and other responders act quickly.

The department’s post said the position offers “a rewarding career with great benefits, a supportive team, and the opportunity to make a real impact behind the scenes.” Applicants are encouraged to consider the role if they want to support public safety without being on patrol.
