Oxford police attend First Responder Fair, invite public to pet Lamar
Oxford Police Department said Monday it is at the First Responder Fair by the skate park across from the First Regional Library, inviting members of the public to check out a patrol car or “pet Lamar.” The announcement appeared on the department’s official Facebook page.
First responder fairs are community outreach events where law enforcement, fire and emergency medical personnel display equipment, vehicles and resources while interacting with residents. Such events aim to increase public awareness of safety services and provide a low-pressure setting for people to meet local responders.
The Oxford Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency responsible for public safety in Oxford, Mississippi. Community policing and outreach activities are commonly used by municipal departments to build trust, provide education and foster relationships with residents, particularly young people.
Organizers did not provide additional details in the Facebook post. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
