The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency posted on its Facebook page recently, the agency said in a social media update.
MEMA is the state agency responsible for coordinating disaster preparedness, response and recovery efforts in Mississippi. It works with local, state and federal partners to help communities prepare for hurricanes, floods, severe weather and other emergencies.
State emergency management agencies commonly use Facebook and other social platforms to share alerts, preparedness tips, shelter information and recovery resources. Those posts can provide a fast way for officials to reach residents during rapidly changing situations.
