Mississippi DPS opens applications for Cadet Class 71

A Facebook reel announcing hiring directed prospective applicants to the Mississippi Department of Public Safety website, saying Cadet Class No. 71 is accepting applications through Aug. 29.

The post, which urged people not to wait, included the department’s web address, www.dps.ms.gov, and hashtags referencing Mississippi, public safety and law enforcement. It did not provide additional details about eligibility, training dates or the number of openings.

The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is the state agency that oversees public safety programs, including the Mississippi Highway Patrol and other law enforcement and driver services. Cadet classes typically serve as an entry point for recruits who will undergo training to become sworn officers or other public safety personnel.

The opening of applications is part of ongoing recruitment efforts by state agencies to maintain staffing and training pipelines for law enforcement. Interested applicants are encouraged to visit the department website for application instructions and requirements. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
