Mississippi DPS meets Pascagoula football team to discuss leadership
This week at Troop K, Captain Rogers and Trooper First Class Orozco met with the Pascagoula High School football team to discuss the importance of leadership, integrity and discipline, the Mississippi Department of Public Safety said in a Facebook post.
The post said the officers talked with players about how lessons learned through sports can provide a foundation for future success. The department noted that while the game may not always be part of a player’s life, commitment, perseverance and character built through athletics will carry beyond the field.
The Mississippi Department of Public Safety is the state agency responsible for public safety programs including the Highway Patrol and driver services. Outreach efforts like this connect law enforcement personnel with young people and can expose students to career paths in public service, including cadet programs, the post said.
Officials encouraged the Pascagoula Panthers to keep working hard and suggested some players might pursue future cadet training. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
