Tupelo, Miss. — Jeremy McGee pleaded guilty Aug. 3, 2026, to trafficking fentanyl and was sentenced to a 12-year term in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections, Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims ordered.
Judge Mims suspended an additional 28 years on the charge and ordered McGee to complete five years of post-release supervision following the incarcerated term. Because McGee was convicted of trafficking, the sentence must be served day-for-day without the possibility of parole or early release, the District Attorney’s Office said.
The case was investigated by the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit and prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Megan French on behalf of the state, the office said. Jason D. Herring, district attorney for the First Circuit Court District, commended NMNU agents for their work removing dangerous narcotics from North Mississippi streets.
Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid that law enforcement and public health officials say has been linked to rising overdose deaths nationwide. The District Attorney’s Office provided the sentencing information in a press release. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
