Dilworth gets 12 years for trafficking fentanyl

TUPELO, Mississippi — Kevin Deshone Dilworth will spend 12 years in prison for trafficking fentanyl, the First Circuit District Attorney’s office said in a May 12 press release.

Dilworth pleaded guilty before Circuit Court Judge Kelly L. Mims on May 7, 2026, the release said. Mims imposed a 40-year sentence with 28 years suspended, leaving 12 years to be served under Mississippi’s trafficking statute.

Under state law cited by the release, Dilworth must serve the full 12-year term without the possibility of parole or early release. After completing the sentence, he will remain under post-release supervision for five years, the release said.

The Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit investigated the case, and Assistant District Attorney Megan French prosecuted on behalf of the state, according to the release signed by First Circuit District Attorney Jason D. Herring. Fentanyl is a powerful synthetic opioid linked to rising overdose deaths nationwide. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
