Man arrested in Dundee trail ride shooting investigation
DUNDEE — A 27-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a shooting during a trail ride in Dundee last month, authorities said.
Malik Javonta Vardaman of Robinsonville was arrested April 11 by the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office, officials said. Warrants issued April 6 by a circuit court judge charge Vardaman with aggravated assault and discharging a firearm.
The shooting occurred March 28 at a trail ride hosted on Dubbs Road by Muddy River Delta Farm, authorities said. Officials have not released additional details about the circumstances of the shooting or whether there were any victims. The investigation remains ongoing.
Investigators urged anyone with information to contact the Tunica County Sheriff’s Office at 662-363-1411 or Crime Stoppers at 662-910-0400. Officials said tips that lead to an arrest could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000. Trail rides are recreational group horseback events that can draw participants from surrounding communities, and incidents at such events often draw heightened public attention. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
