Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office thanks community after National Night Out
The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office on Wednesday thanked residents, vendors and public safety partners for attending a recent National Night Out Against Crime event at the agency’s headquarters, Sheriff Eddie Hawkins wrote in a Facebook post.
Hawkins singled out vendors, community organizations and public safety partners for providing information about services and resources to citizens. He also thanked Ken Hairston for preparing the meal and the volunteers who helped set up, serve and clean up.
The sheriff’s office recognized its employees, the Community Benefit Committee and the event sponsors for their support. Hawkins also commended Lt. Rhonda Sanders and Janie Shields for leading planning and coordination, and noted that DJ Boss helped create a family-friendly atmosphere.
National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that seeks to strengthen relationships between law enforcement and the neighborhoods they serve. Hawkins said seeing families and neighbors come together reflects the event’s purpose of helping keep Lowndes County a safe place to live and raise children.
