West College Street closes after structure fire near U.S. 45

West College Street is temporarily closed because of a structure fire near U.S. 45, a Facebook post said. Motorists are being asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes until further notice.

The closure affects traffic near U.S. 45, a major north–south U.S. highway that runs through several states. Road closures and emergency activity on or near such corridors can cause significant delays for commuters and commercial traffic and may require longer detours depending on the scope of the incident.

The post said emergency personnel are working safely at the scene and thanked the public for patience and cooperation. Authorities typically keep roads closed in the immediate area to provide space for fire suppression, rescue operations and investigations and to protect public safety.

Drivers should expect delays, follow directions from emergency responders and seek alternate routes until officials reopen the roadway. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
