Lowndes County deputies arrest suspect in Greentree apartment shooting
Lowndes County deputies arrested 30-year-old Devin Jermal Rice on Sunday after a tip led investigators to a residence in the New Vision West Mobile Home Park, the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office said.
Rice was wanted on three counts of hurling a missile in connection with an incident on March 5 at 500 Greentree Drive, Greentree Apartments, the sheriff’s office said. Deputies who responded to reports of shots fired found three vehicles with damage consistent with bullet impacts.
Investigators identified a suspect through witness statements, security footage and a witness observation of a man described as a black male wearing a red hoodie, the sheriff’s office said. Warrants were issued after deputies determined Rice was responsible for allegedly discharging a firearm in the apartment complex parking lot and causing property damage.
The sheriff’s office said it received a tip through Golden Triangle Crime Stoppers on May 1 and located Rice May 3. He was taken into custody without incident. The office thanked the public and Crime Stoppers for information that contributed to the arrest and asked anyone with additional information to call (662) 729-5029 or submit an anonymous tip through the T3 Tips app. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
