Louisiana man dies in single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Harrison County

HARRISON COUNTY — A 43-year-old Louisiana man died Friday evening in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 10 in Harrison County, the Mississippi Highway Patrol said. Troopers responded to the crash around 5:20 p.m. on May 1.

The patrol identified the victim as Wilmer Rodriguez of Kenner, Louisiana. Officials said Rodriguez was driving a 2007 Honda Accord westbound on Interstate 10 when the vehicle ran off the roadway, overturned and struck a tree. He sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Kenner is a suburb of New Orleans in Jefferson Parish. Interstate 10 is a major east-west corridor along the Gulf Coast that carries local and long-distance traffic, including commercial vehicles and commuters.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol investigates traffic crashes across the state and enforces road safety. Officials did not immediately release information about possible contributing factors to the crash.
