Vicksburg Police Department said Friday it will charge Julian Childress, 50, of Lamar County, with felony fleeing after a pursuit that ended in a crash on Interstate 20 on Aug. 14, 2026.
Officers attempted to stop Childress on Interstate 20 East near Indiana Avenue, the department said. Childress failed to stop and continued eastbound at a high rate of speed, prompting a pursuit that continued into Warren County.
According to the department, Childress lost control of the vehicle near the weigh station in Warren County. The vehicle overturned multiple times before coming to a stop. Officers removed Childress from the vehicle and he was transported for medical treatment.
The Vicksburg Police Department said Childress will be charged with felony fleeing upon his release from medical care. Interstate 20 is a major east-west highway that runs through Vicksburg and other Mississippi communities.
No further information will be released at this time, the department said. This is a developing story and will be updated as more details emerge.
