The Jackson Police Department is investigating a homicide in the 3000 block of Brown Street after officers were dispatched to the scene at 12:42 a.m., the department said in a Facebook post.
Officers found the body of an unidentified Black male lying in the street. The victim appeared to have been shot multiple times and succumbed to his injuries, the department said. There is no suspect information at this time.
The department said this is the fifth homicide of the year in Jackson. The Jackson Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency for Jackson, Mississippi, the state capital, and routinely investigates violent crimes and works with local and state partners on homicide investigations.
