HCSO cancels alert after fatal one-vehicle crash on Dry Grove Rd
HCSO said deputies responded to a one-vehicle accident this evening in the area of Dry Grove Rd. in Raymond and found the driver deceased.
The agency said the vehicle, a gray Nissan Maxima, had left the roadway and struck a tree in a partially wooded area. The driver was later identified as Nolanion Cantrell Thompson, 20, HCSO said.
HCSO said the accident is believed to have occurred during the weekend and remains under investigation. The sheriff’s office also canceled a missing person alert that had been issued in connection with the case.
Sheriff’s offices typically investigate traffic deaths to determine whether speed, impairment, road conditions or mechanical failure contributed to a crash. Single-vehicle collisions that leave the roadway and strike trees often result in serious or fatal injuries, and authorities frequently reconstruct scenes to establish a timeline and cause.
This incident is under active investigation. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
