Hattiesburg police extend condolences after Forrest County investigator dies

HATTIESBURG, Miss. — The Hattiesburg Police Department extended its condolences to the Forrest County Sheriff’s Office after Investigator Andretta English died following a motorcycle accident yesterday, the department said in a Facebook post.

The Forrest County Sheriff’s Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Forrest County, Mississippi, which includes the city of Hattiesburg. Investigators with county sheriff’s offices typically handle criminal inquiries, gather evidence and work with prosecutors on cases.

Hattiesburg police said they are keeping English’s family, friends, colleagues and the entire Forrest County Sheriff’s Office in their thoughts and prayers during the difficult time. The post did not include additional details about the crash or English’s condition prior to her death.

The loss of a law enforcement investigator can affect operations within a sheriff’s office and reverberate across neighboring agencies and the communities they serve. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
