Gulfport Police thank community for Police Week donations

Gulfport Police Department said in a Facebook post that community members dropped off snacks, treats, drinks and other goodies for officers during Police Week.

The post thanked donors for their generosity and said officers are now operating at “approximately 92% caffeine and sugar.” The department added, “You are the real MVPs!” and used hashtags including #PoliceWeek and #GulfportProud.

Police Week is an annual observance when communities and law enforcement organizations recognize the service and sacrifice of officers. Donations of food and beverages are a common way neighborhoods show support and help maintain morale among patrol and support staff.

The Gulfport Police Department is the municipal law enforcement agency serving the Gulfport community. In its social media message, the department said it appreciates every person who took the time to support officers and help boost morale.

Details about the number of donations or the specific locations where items were dropped off were not provided. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
