Gulfport police join Christmas in July celebration
The Gulfport Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers took part in a “Christmas in July” celebration hosted by Ms. Audrey’s Southern Kitchen this weekend.
The department said officers spent the day meeting families, interacting with children and taking part in community activities. The post thanked Ms. Audrey’s for inviting the department and thanked residents who stopped by, saying the smiles on the children’s faces were “what it’s all about.”
Police departments often attend local festivals and business-hosted events to practice community policing, build relationships with residents and provide a visible, friendly presence. Such outreach is a routine part of efforts by many agencies to strengthen trust between officers and the communities they serve.
The Gulfport Police Department said it looks forward to participating in similar events in the future. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
