Goon Squad victim arrested on firearms charges in Simpson County

Eddie Terrell Parker, identified as one of the victims in the Rankin County “Goon Squad” case, was arrested Tuesday in Simpson County on firearms-related charges and booked into the Simpson County Jail on May 19, authorities said.

The Mississippi Highway Patrol made the booking, Paul Mullins said. Mullins said Parker remains under treatment for injuries sustained in a crash.

Mullins said Parker was previously arrested by the Louisiana State Police in December on multiple charges, including narcotics violations, possession with intent to distribute, being a felon in possession of a firearm and carrying a concealed weapon.

Authorities have not released additional details about the latest arrest; the Mississippi Highway Patrol was contacted for comment, according to the report. Parker was one of two men who were tortured and abused by former members of the self-described “Goon Squad,” a group of five former Rankin County deputies and a Richland police officer.

The officers pleaded guilty in federal court to a series of civil rights violations stemming from the January 2023 raid in Braxton. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
