Authorities seize meth, firearms in Scott County search warrants

On May 27, 2026, the Scott County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Task Force and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics executed a search warrant at a residence in Forest and seized about 28 grams of methamphetamine, narcotics distribution scales, multiple firearms, two vehicles and currency, the sheriff’s office said in a Facebook post.

A separate search warrant conducted the same day by the narcotics task force, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Lake Police Department at a residence on Thornton Street in Lake yielded about 5 grams of methamphetamine, 0.5 gram of crack cocaine and items commonly used in drug distribution, the post said.

The sheriff’s office said Alvester Tucker has been charged with possession of methamphetamine. Rodney Mitchell is charged with possession of methamphetamine, sale of methamphetamine, possession of cocaine and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

The seizures and charges result from a joint investigation, the post said, underscoring cooperation between the Scott County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
