Detective Sgt. Kam Herod earns crimes-against-children certification
Detective Sgt. Kam Herod has graduated from the inaugural ACE Institute and Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy Crimes Against Children Certified Investigator Course after four weeks of intensive training, a post on the department’s Facebook page said.
The department said Herod is one of the first 11 investigators in Mississippi to earn the certification and now joins a select group of investigators nationwide with this specialized training. The certification signals additional skills in investigating crimes against children, an area that requires specialized interviewing techniques and evidence handling.
The Mississippi Law Enforcement Officers’ Training Academy is the state’s primary provider of basic and advanced training for law enforcement officers. The ACE Institute offers specialized coursework designed to prepare investigators to identify, document and pursue cases involving child victims.
The department said it is proud of Herod’s dedication to protecting children and strengthening its ability to serve the community and invited residents to join in congratulating him. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
