Southaven police celebrate detective’s retirement

On Friday, the Southaven Police Department celebrated Detective Tim Yancey’s retirement, the department said in a post on its Facebook page.

During the ceremony, detectives presented Yancey with a plaque recognizing his years of service and members of his Investigative Services Unit gave him a detective’s revolver, the post said.

Coworkers recalled his early days on patrol, thanked him for being a supportive mentor and noted his love for family, the department said. A common theme at the event, the post said, was Yancey’s laid-back demeanor and easygoing personality. The department also described him as compassionate yet fierce and persistent.

The post said Yancey spent the latter part of his 23-year career in Investigations, working to seek justice for victims of crime. The department offered its best wishes and thanks for his service. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
