Detective David Doane named Rotary Club safety officer of year
The Gulfport Police Department said Detective David Doane has been recognized as the Rotary Club’s Safety Officer of the Year.
The department said the honor reflects the dedication, professionalism and integrity Doane brings to his work and notes that he consistently goes above and beyond in service to the department and residents. The recognition, announced in a Facebook post, said the award has earned Doane the respect of both his peers and the community he serves.
Rotary Clubs are community service organizations that often acknowledge local leaders for contributions to public safety, volunteerism and civic engagement. Awards from such groups can highlight effective practices within police departments and strengthen ties between law enforcement and the communities they serve.
Safety officers typically lead training, coordinate safety initiatives and help manage responses to emergencies, roles that can affect both departmental operations and public confidence. The department thanked Doane for his leadership and commitment to excellence. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
